As every team in the NFC East making moves, most notable signing is the Redskins inking a 7 year, $100 million deal with bit DT Albert Haynesworth, Giants bringing in some dline depth with Rocky Bernard and Chris Canty as well as LB Michael Boley. As well as the Cowboys signing LB Keith Brooking for some leadership in that locker room. The Eagles only signing of the weekend was signing Stacy Andrews to come in and help this offensive line.
But it’s probably not the splash that most fans were hoping for. Some were hoping maybe to get top WR free agent TJ Houshmandzadeh after stating he wanted to come to philly. But according to report by Comcast sportsnet’s Derrick Gunn that the Eagles were not interested in the WR’s duties. There was also a rumor from NYToday that Derrick Ward was in for a visit. Gunn also stated that those rumors were false and the Eagles were also not interested in Ward as well.
A weekend where the Eagles lose four of their own players, including safety and leader Brian Dawkins to the Broncos. As well as backup rb Correll Buckhalter, backup safety and special teamer Sean Considine. Then trading disgruntled CB Lito Sheppard to the Jets.Alot of fans are upset so far with the Birds lack of urgency to go out there and get players, and also letting some key players go. The Eagles have some wholes to fill on this team. Some depth in the secondary, a backup runningback to take some of the load off of Westbrook, a blocking TE, a blocking FB and still need a LT to block Mcnabb’s blindside since reports are Tra Thomas and the Jaguars are talking about a possible contract. These needs will probablly be expressed sometime in April’s NFL Draft since free agency is a little slim right now.
